Hobbies & Skills

I’m 50, and I keep saying I’ll get round to things like learning French, choosing my top 100 albums of all time, learning to surf, playing padel, making a decent cocktail. So, now at 51yrs old, I'm doing them - Small habits, Big Milestones around a job and a family.

Small Habits

Big Milestones

25mins French 5-times a week

I don't achieve that every week, and to be honest for the last 10 years, I've done less than 15mins in total. However, I'm now committed and trying  to do 25mins as a 'transition phase' between finishing work, and being home with the family - It's become a useful decompression habit

Have dinner in France in French

I expect this will still be 60% French and 40% English but I would really love to make this happen by the end of 2027, and of course it has to be in France so we'll just have to plan a few practice trips to turn those Small Habits into a Big Milestone achievement.

Listen to 1 'contender' album a week

This will never be finsihed, there's simply too much brilliant music out there but that's why it's a great habit. Choose 1 album and listen to it from end to end  during the week, and then decide if it makes the cut at the end of the week.

Update the Top 100 Album list

Whether you track this in Spotify in your own 'Top 100 playlist' or by treating yourself to the album on vinyl, or keeping track in 'Notes', this is where you not only show progress but you also learn about the story behind the album because you have t show off about it at your next dinner party!
